NHS Cervical Screening Programme

The NHS Cervical Screening Programme (NHSCSP) is pleased to announce the release of an e- learning resource for cervical sample taker update training available from 12 October 2017.

The resource is designed to meet the cervical sample taker 3 yearly update training requirements as set out in the NHSCSP Guidance for the training of cervical sample takers. .

The module will be hosted on Health Education England`s website   e-learning for Healthcare (e-LfH).

The resource is part of a suite of e-learning materials for staff working across all NHS screening programmes.

It is anticipated that the module will facilitate improved and flexible access to update training to meet the needs of the sample taker population.

This course is adapted with kind permission from the North East, Yorkshire and the Humber (NEYH) Cervical Sample Taker course. This national resource is free to access for sample takers working in the cervical screening programme. It will fulfil their three year sample taker training update requirements and support them to maintain and improve their knowledge of the cervical screening programme. The module is composed of theory sessions and individual case studies designed to cover the NHSCSP pathway and meet update training requirements. There is a final assessment intended to test knowledge and on successful completion of the assessment the sample taker can download a certificate as a training record.

A PHE blog is planned shortly to support the launch and include feedback from the day.
